The PLATE column will be the place of the data of each piece what contents of that
hallmark, in my database or other base, eg.: size (1/1 = whole plate 1/2 = halfplate
and so on) and/or date of the photo if it known...
Doublé: The name of materials where a base metal was covered with a precious metal (different from a full precious metal materials). In this case a silver plated/covered copper plate.
Garanti(e): something
like guaranted quality
Breveté: patented
For the plated metal, the hallmarks are either square shape or
rectangular shape. This is the end
eighteenth century that the process of plated metal will rependre
(re-hanged?). Created in 1797,
the punch of metal plated was used regularly until 1860.
square punch comprises:
******
The balance was in
Europe the symbol for the silversmith.
The moon was the symbol
of the silver for the alchemists.
(Description/decoding of
other signs: rosette, etc.coming later.)
